In Amber - a mix series dedicated to the best sessions since our doors opened, recorded live from our Manchester home. We may keep our phones in our pockets, but some moments deserve to be revisited in full.

In Amber 005: Manuel Darquart

Darquart delivers the fifth instalment of our In Amber mix series, recorded live on New Years Eve back in 2024. A tour de force in the art of the warm up. Two hours of sun drenched Balearic b-sides, Italo wildcards, chuggy acid and rolling basslines are the name of the game here, and what a game it is. From the Auckland music scene to London, Darquart’s infatuation with iridescent house and disco has seen him bag a regular spot on the likes of Balaami and Rinse, and a string of records on underground staples such as Coastal Haze and Wolf Music.

In Amber 003 : Kevin Saunderson

With an influence this deep, Kevin Saunderson needs no introduction. Enter, the co-creator of techno. A Motor City icon, he found early success with Inner City and took them to the global stage. He’s produced 12 UK top 40 hits, sold millions of records and stands as one of the true pioneers of electronic music. Techno doesn’t exist without the Elevator. Our third instalment of In Amber was recorded in March last year when he touched down in Manchester for an uncompromising three hour set, capturing cutting edge techno, laden with emotive piano riffs, long, technical blends and that distinctive Detroit flair. In Amber is a mix series dedicated to the best sessions since our doors opened, recorded live from our Manchester home. Open Your Mind. Honour The Concept.

In Amber 002: Aletha b2b Zuri

This is what Amber’s sounds like when time is allowed to expand. Recorded live on January 11th, this five and half hour all-night-long session from residents Aletha b2b Zuri captures a room in full orbit, tracing a journey where meticulous selection meets rhythmic experimentation. The set exhales through intuitive tempo shifts and genre-melting transitions. From playful elements of prog house to squelchy acid and breaks, our two residents express a restless ear for unpredictability, layering dense low-ends into widening loops and syncopations. Like all great all-nighters, this recording is a testament to how Amber's residents think about time, dynamics and flow. Patient and instinctive, each passing moment is given the respect to take up space, breathe, and then plunge the dancefloor into somewhere new and kinetic, keeping bodies moving all the way until the lights come on.

In Amber 001: Mr Scruff + MC Kwasi

Ready to relive the first ever night at Amber’s? We may have kept our phones in our pockets, but some moments deserve to be revisited in full. Drawn from the archives, this recording captures Mr Scruff and MC Kwasi’s opening-night session at Amber’s - an hour and a half in the booth that set the tone for everything’s that followed. Warm, low-slung and patiently unraveled, this set moves with Scruff’s trademark sense of ease: sun-soaked basslines, lazy guitar licks and softly glowing pads drifting past in unhurried succession. You can find MC Kwasi stepping forward twenty minutes in, laying down his recognised vocals at subtle intervals while each chapter shapeshifts through distorted synth lines, layered disco basslines and an Andrew Weatherall-esque chug. It’s a masterclass in creative flow, and a fitting document of Amber’s opening night, reminding us that some of the most enduring moments are the ones that unfold slowly and take their sweet time.
